A man accused of killing two teens in Easton is now behind bars. 20-year-old Altajier Robinson turned himself in Sunday afternoon, according to Northampton County District Attorney Terry Houck. Robinson allegedly shot and killed 17-year-old D’Andre Snipes and 18-year-old Kavan Figueroa. Figueroa and Snipes were shot March 14 while sitting in a stolen vehicle at 13th and Washington streets. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Houck says the investigation is not over and he believes more than one person was involved in the killings.
A York man is charged with killing an Allentown man in Berks County over the weekend. Police say 38-year-old Nehemias Montes shot and killed 34-year-old Omar Serra near a Wyomissing Walmart. The incident started when Montes confronted a woman he had been in a long-term relationship with. Serra apparently tried to get away in an SUV, but crashed and later died. The female victim, from York, was taken to Reading Hospital where police report she is in critical condition.
Police are looking for a suspect who stabbed a man several times over the weekend. It happened in the 1500 block of Union Boulevard around 2:30 Saturday morning. The man, whose name has not been released, is expected to be all right, though he told police he didn't know what happened. Anyone who knows anything about the stabbing is asked to call Allentown police.
Authorities are looking into what caused a crash in Monroe County that took the lives of two people. The accident happened Saturday night on Route 611 near Main Street in Tobyhanna. Police say a car driven by an 18-year-old man was struck by a tractor-trailer. Four people, all teenagers from Tobyhanna, were in the sedan at the time of the crash and two of them, both riding in the back seat, were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say heavy rain falling at the time of the crash may have contributed to the accident.
Two Pennsylvania state troopers and a third person are dead after an overnight accident. It happened around 1 a.m. on the northbound side of I-95 near the Philadelphia Stadium Complex, just north of Broad Street. Pennsylvania State Police say the state troopers were making a traffic stop at the time and were struck by a passing car. A civilian was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A Pennsylvania mother admits to a brutal crime involving her two daughters. 32-year-old Marie Snyder has testified that she and her partner, Echo Butler, tortured and killed the two girls, beating them and starving them. The bodies of Nicole and Jasmine Snyder were found last November north of Williamsport. Butler's parents are charged with helping their daughter starve and abuse the girls. All four will be arraigned April 11th.
The Pennsylvania Alzheimer's Association is concerned about a lack of doctors to treat the disease. Clay Jacobs says the state is seeing a shortage of dementia-care doctors and workers as the rate of Alzheimer's continues to rise. Right now, 280,000 Pennsylvanians are living with Alzheimer's disease. Within three years, that number is expected to grow by more than 14-percent.
Large trucks no longer have to display weigh class stickers on their inside of the windshields in the state. PennDOT has revealed they've stopped requiring that as a convenience to customers, as well as part of streamlining efforts.
A federal judge is denying a change of venue request from attorneys representing accused Tree of Life shooter, Robert Bowers. Lawyers filed the motion arguing media coverage of the shooting prevents Bowers from have a fair trial. Judge Robert Colville says media coverage has lessened over the more than three years since the attacks and no location change is necessary. Bowers is accused of killing eleven people at the synagogue in October of 2018.
Villanova is in the Sweet 16 after knocking off Ohio State Sunday afternoon. Head coach Jay Wright says there are no easy games once March Madness hits. "That's the experience of playing in the NCAA Tournament. You get tough matchups, you get a tough night and as long as you're bringing great effort and great attitude every game, we accept what the outcome is," Wright says. Villanova plays Michigan Thursday night in their Sweet 16 matchup.
